My daughter taught me this one.

She was somewhere around seven months old, absolutely determined to get across the kitchen floor. She'd get up on her hands and knees, rock back and forth, launch, and her knees would slide right out from under her on the hardwood. Down she'd go. Then she'd do it again. And again.

She was fine. Babies are built for this, and she figured it out on her own schedule, the way they all do. But I remember sitting on that floor thinking: her pajamas have grips on the feet. She isn't walking yet. She's on her knees.

So we put the grips where she actually was.

What a knee grip actually is

On the knees of every Kaizen Baby Knee-Grip Convertible Footie, there's a patch of soft silicone dots, the same idea as the non-slip dots on the bottom of a baby's sock, just moved up the leg to where a crawler puts their weight.

They're printed right into the fabric, so there's nothing sewn on, nothing to peel off, nothing scratchy against the skin. They stay soft, they stay flexible, and they go through the wash with the rest of the pajama.

On hardwood, tile, and laminate, the floors where little knees slide most, they give a crawler something to push against.

Why we only make them in two sizes

Our knee-grip footies come in 6–9 months and 9–12 months. That's on purpose.

That's the crawling window. It's when knees do the work, and it's a window that closes faster than you expect; one day they're army-crawling across the rug and a few months later they're pulling up on the coffee table and you're chasing a brand-new walker.

We could stretch the size range and sell more of them. But grips on the knees of a size 4T doesn't help anybody, and we'd rather make the thing that's genuinely useful for the months it's genuinely useful. Small steps, done well; that's what kaizen means, and it's how we build everything here.

What else is on this pajama

The grips get the attention, but they're on a pajama we'd be proud of without them.

The zipper avoids the chin. It's an offset double zipper, which means it runs off to the side rather than straight up the middle, nothing sitting under your baby's chin, and nothing in the way of a car seat buckle. It opens from the bottom too, so a 2 a.m. diaper change doesn't mean unzipping a whole sleeping baby.

The feet and mittens convert. Fold them over to cover brand-new fingers that scratch, fold them back when toes need room. One pajama that keeps working as they grow.

The fabric is 95% bamboo viscose with 5% spandex. It's buttery-soft, breathable, and hypoallergenic. The stretch is the practical part: bamboo pajamas fit up to three times longer than cotton ones, so you're not sizing up every six weeks.

And the safety basics, plainly: our pajamas meet CPSC regulations, they're free from flame retardants and harsh chemicals, and they're designed with a snug fit. Machine washable, because of course they need to be.

What are knee grips on baby pajamas?

Soft silicone dots printed onto the knees of the pajama, in the same spot a crawling baby puts their weight. They work like the non-slip dots on a baby sock, just relocated for babies who aren't walking yet.

What sizes do the knee-grip pajamas come in?

Do they work on hardwood floors?

That's exactly what they're for. Hardwood, tile, and laminate are the surfaces where knees slide most. On carpet a baby already has traction, so you'll notice the difference less.

Will the grips come off in the wash?

They're printed into the fabric rather than sewn or glued on, so they go through the wash with everything else. Machine wash, tumble dry low.

What are they made of?

95% bamboo viscose, 5% spandex. Hypoallergenic and breathable, which matters for babies with sensitive skin.

Are they flame-retardant free?

Yes. Our pajamas are free from flame retardants and harsh chemicals, and they meet CPSC regulations with a snug-fit design.

Can my baby sleep in them and play in them?

That's how most of our families use them. They're pajamas that survive a morning of crawling around the living room. Bamboo regulates temperature well, so they work across seasons.
